Like an amusement park for the mind, Wonder Works' activities and exhibits spark the imagination and let your brain have some fun! Design and ride your own roller coaster, fly a military fighter jet, even land the NASA space shuttle! There are more than 100 interactive displays for you and your family to enjoy. Here are several of our favorite WonderWorks' exhibits:
Hurricane Shack
Nobody wants to be outside during a hurricane, but have you ever wondered what it feels like to be in the midst of one of those storms? Jump inside the Hurricane Shack and feel the force of winds reaching up to 84 miles per hour. That's the fury of a Category 1 hurricane. Talk to your kids! How many categories of hurricanes are there? Can they imagine what it would be like in a more powerful storm? Which causes more damage, the wind or the rain?
Bed of Nails
What would it feel like to lay on a bed of sharp nails? Would the nails stick you? Would you get hurt? Why or why not? Let your kids find out for themselves and lay on a real bed of 3500 nails! Working exhibits get your child thinking. Imagining. Wondering.
Mind Ball
Is it possible to move an object using only your mind? Using EEG technology, Mind Ball uses the power of your brain waves to compete against another player and attempt to roll a ball across a table.
How Cold Is It?
You may have learned about the Titanic in school. Many of us have seen the movie. But have you ever wondered exactly how cold the water was on that fateful night the Titanic sank? Have you ever wondered how well you would fare in the same situation? Submerge your hand into the How Cold Is It exhibit and feel the temperature of the Atlantic Ocean on that April night so long ago. This exhibit lets your child share in and comprehend the state of those passengers and opens the door for conversations that help build empathy. That's what this Myrtle Beach attraction is all about!
